Sex and pregnancy

Did you have sex during your pregnancy?

I had sex during my first trimester- about 5-6 weeks and it was enjoyable.

I had no vaginal or abdominal pain, no bleeding and no pressure on my cervix.

Second trimester

The second time around, at roughly 4- 5 months, I attempted to have sex and ohh, what a task. I felt like an elephant sitting on wood.

Excuse my husband because I was the one being adamant that we had sex.

He was concerned and advised against it since I had been having abdominal pain and discomfort from the ending of the first trimester.

I was not having it. I mean, you’ve been away for so long so let’s get it on!

Big mistake, I was literally out of breath. I did mouth breathing in secret so he would not notice or so I thought.

My heart galloped. The first attempt was slightly uncomfortable but I wanted to try again, of course, on a different day.

Second attempt

By the second time around, I said, “nah, not me again, no sex whilst I’m pregnant.”

The following day after my sexual act was brutal.

I could barely walk, I was really walking on a side like a duck. I was leaning on the wall even more to move around.

I bled a bit the following day and had severe pressure on my pelvis. I was in pain.

Sex is often not spoken of because it is seen as being taboo. Women are seen with their bellies yet sometimes shy away from a sex discussion.

Question: how was your sexual encounter after vaginal delivery or c-section? Felt the same as before or better?

  1. I wish women felt more comfortable talking about these topics. Cause how do you even know what to expect. Thanks for sharing
