I visited Oistins on a Friday afternoon to experience the Oistins Friday Night Fish Fry.
As I got off the bus, I heard people singing along to the loud music.
The smell of the grilled fish got me excited to eat.
Oistins Fish Fry is like a street jam. Lots of people, bars, rum shops and arcades with local crafts.
Oistins is situated in the south of Barbados in the Christ Church Parish.
It reminded me of the fishing village- Dennery, Saint Lucia.
Pat’s Place
We visited Pat’s Place since it was recommended.
I was served the biggest fried chicken I had ever seen on a plate.
My mouth watered as I watched as the mahi mahi was grilled and placed on our plate.
The queue for Pat’s Place quickly got longer as people flocked the area.
The majority said that Pat’s Place had been recommended so they came to try the food.
I was not disappointed with the good Bajan food from Pat’s Place.
Everything was flavorful and well-seasoned and prepared.
Coastal
Oistins is a coastal area so expect to see the colorful fishing boats decorate the water as they sit on the sea.
We took a walk on the pier and watched the sunset. I was surprised to see turtles close by.
We even saw women gutting and scaling fish at the fish market.
Tourist attraction
I had a fun time in Oistins.
Oistins Friday Night Fish Fry was a great way to experience the Bajan culture and heritage.
Chill spot
If you are not up for getting something to eat, you could grab a seat from the large seating area and enjoy the entertainment.
Have a chat with the locals or tourists or go for a stroll on the beach or pier.
Oistins is close to Grantley Adams International Airport so it is an aircraft spotting area.
The planes seemed like they were touchable as they passed directly over.
No need to worry about your safety! There were police officers patrolling the area.
