The new location is easy to get to since it is along the Castries to Gros Islet highway.

Flavours of the Grill caters for both reservations and walk ins. Only lunch and dinner are served!

On the go? Food pick up is available! Call to place your order and collect your meal when you are ready!

Outdoor dining

You could dine outdoor in the open area or chill at the bar. Enjoy the fresh air, order some cocktails, watch sports, enjoy the music or show your dance skills on the dance floor.

The outdoor setting is even more festive with the added night lights so pay a visit during the night!

Indoor dining

Enter into a different atmosphere as you dine indoor in the air conditioned and well decorated room.

The indoor experience is very romantic especially if you are having dinner- dim lights and candle kinda vibe. It will definitely set the mood.

Hello!

Buffet versus menu

You are sure to be greeted by the friendly staff as you walk into the establishment. Love multiple food options? Well you will enjoy the lunch buffet! Grab a plate and get served!

The buffet is different every day so you can enjoy a variety of mouth-watering cuisines.

Menu? An a la carte menu is provided! You could choose lunch from the menu but it depends on the time and what your taste buds crave.

Lunch time is usually busy so ordering from the menu might come with a little wait time. The meals are prepared fresh and from scratch so the wait is always worth it!

I enjoy the a la carte dining at nights! The food is always well prepared and well presented.

Food

My favourite is the grilled chicken served with peppercorn sauce. Oh my gosh, that is super tasty!

I also love the jerk chicken! My eyes got tremendously watery and I had nasal drip the first time I tried the jerk chicken because it was too hot for me. I mean it is jerk chicken so obviously it will be hot! What did I expect?

I began ordering not too spicy jerk chicken thereafter. It is just as delicious minus me getting watery eyes and nasal drip! Yummy!

Must visit

Flavours of the Grill is a good chill spot to have a date, have lunch or meet with a group. It is the perfect place to celebrate an event, relax, enjoy some good food and have a few drinks with friends.

The establishment smells nice and is always clean and neat.

I appreciate how the friendly yet professional staff check at intervals to ensure that everybody is doing okay.

The food is inexpensive given that it is of high quality. The authentic local cuisines are colorful, flavorful and satisfying.

I am overly impressed with the food preparation. The chef is very talented and knows how to make my tummy feast with excitement.

I must say that the flavors of the food have been consistent over the past ten years that I have visited. However, the portion sizes got a bit smaller.

Cheers

Remember

Free parking is available!

Highchairs are available for infants and children are welcomed

Call your friends, set a date and make it karaoke night every Thursday

Mints are given with the bill

Flavours of the Grill is habitually busy on Fridays and Saturdays. Expect to see both locals and tourists.

Celebrating an event? Call ahead and be seated at a well decorated table.

Flavours of the Grill is definitely worth a visit!

Soufriere

Here is the reason I had lunch at The Beacon!

I visited Soufriere on a beautiful Friday afternoon to spend the day with one of my close friends. I took a bus from Castries to Soufriere and I slept throughout the bus ride. I needed to catch up on some much needed sleep! After about an hour I had arrived at my destination!

Soufriere is beautiful in every single way! I got off the bus at the bus terminal and took a walk around the Soufriere market. A few vendors were selling their produce but the market was relatively quiet.

It was a cool and mostly cloudy day so I eagerly walked around. For more information on the Soufriere market visit https://ourtropicalliving.com/volcanic-exploration/

Love by first watch!

I saw the Piton staring at me and together we both fell in love with each other. I was mesmerized by her! Her untouched pure beauty, her height, her strength as she went against all odds and how she stood alone as she reached for the sky.

I felt at peace during the long gaze and was so thankful that I could witness such beauty. This was a magical experience! I really love nature and nature loves me back!

I introduce you to Gros Piton
I am in love
Standing as tall as she is

The Beacon

When I got to my friend’s house, to my surprise, I was told that we would be going to The Beacon for lunch.

I said “The Beacon!” out of my astonishment. I immediately remembered the two occasions when I visited The Beacon to celebrate the big “I do!” I could still remember how excited my friends were to celebrate their wedding at The Beacon!

It was only about a ten minute drive from the Soufriere town to The Beacon. My friend had made reservations so our arrival was anticipated. We arrived shortly after 2 p.m.

The Beacon
A colorful delight
Perfect color combination

Jaw drop!

If you take note of the little things like I do then you will become happier as soon as you lay eyes on the place. The building is colourful and attractive. At least to me it is.

The Beacon sits perfectly on a hill overlooking the Soufriere town. Since The Beacon is situated on a hill, imagine what you could see and how far you could see!

I simply cannot describe the view from this angle. You need to see for yourself! If you enjoy nature and appreciate nature like I do then the view will captivate your eyes.

The view is spectacular! Perfect view of the Twin Pitons, clear view of the Soufriere town and lush evergreen vegetation.

I could see the mountains, blue sea with the sun overlooking and even steams from the Sulphur Springs. Click on link to see what the Sulphur Springs look like https://ourtropicalliving.com/volcanic-exploration/

Open air restaurant

The Beacon is an open air restaurant so the view follows you wherever you go. You could relax, enjoy lunch, the view and the cool air.

We were taken to our table and served a glass of water then allowed to get our food. It is buffet style dining so you could choose whatever you like!

This is a plus! Taking whatever you like amounts to taking as much as you like. Right?

I am table ready
Set up
Wow

Lunch

Where do I begin!? The menu included curry chicken, fish strips, green banana in garlic sauce, fried rice, ripe plantain and even sweet potato pie. Also served were, fresh garden salad, steamed vegetables, baked potato and fig salad.

This was my first time having fish strips seasoned with ginger. The ginger added a rich taste to the fish strips. Could you imagine that tartar sauce was served as the dip, now that is genius.

There was really a party in my mouth and tummy. I could not get enough of the fish strips, I need that recipe! The chef excelled and outshined themselves. The food had a really good aroma too.

The food was well prepared and really really really really really delicious. Like oh my gosh delicious.

I enjoyed a glass of tamarind juice after! Yep, I was filled!

Opps I took the photo after everyone ate! That explains the empty trays!
Food looked so good made me forget to take pictures first

Dessert

Vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup was the dessert served. The missing piece was cake but we were informed that cake is only served on Sundays!

Even the spoon is in love with the ice cream and willingly gives the ice cream its heart

Feel good moment

Since it was a week day, the package inclusive of lunch and dessert was EC $35.00. You could even go for seconds without paying extra money! Such a great deal!

Imagine going for extra food and you only pay EC $35.00 that is a big “wow!”

The package is EC $40.00 on Sundays because extra dessert is provided.

Let your eyes tell the story

Note

The Beacon is located next to a busy highway so be careful along the road.

The Beacon could cater for large events, meetings, birthdays, anniversaries, wedding proposals and just a causal date.

You could visit the Maranatha Gardens next to the restaurant to relax, enjoy nature, watch the plants and enjoy taking even more pictures.

It would be best to call and make reservations instead of doing walk ins. The reservation would ensure that arrangements are made to receive you so you could get to sample all the food.

Walk ins would be subject to the food available at the time because The Beacon gets crowded at times.

I made it a dancefloor
Stunning

Thank you The Beacon

I had fun being my own model during my photoshoot and was able to take some great photos. The photos seemed like they were made for a magazine because of the perfect background.

I had a memorable experience at The Beacon. The place was well kept and the staff were really nice and friendly.

Cater for large events
Beautiful
Beauty every where
I love my country!

No need to second guess visiting

The place was not crowded during my visit!

Two groups came to celebrate a birthday and someone came in for a causal lunch date.

Protocols established by the government to safeguard the population from the coronavirus disease were followed.

Seating arrangements was well done so many persons could visit at the same time because social distancing was done.

Dinner date

My significant other took me on a causal date night in October to celebrate my birthday. Although he did not mention where we were going I figured it out when he took a left turn towards the Vigie Marina.

We had been to Coal Pot Restaurant on multiple occasions but we make every visit seem like our first because we love to pamper our palate.

The waiter greeted us with a smile and warm welcome as we approached the restaurant. He had us choose our table and escorted us to our seat.

We decided to choose a seat near the waterfront so that we would easily see the shoal of fish as they came close by.

There were many chairs with balloons tied to the back, apparently many other people would be celebrating their birthday here too.

Our table was beautifully decorated with birthday decorations, a lantern and candle. I was really impressed!

Ready for dinner!
Dine next to the water

Coal Pot Restaurant

Coal Pot Restaurant is a waterside restaurant located in Vigie, Castries near the George F.L. Charles Airport. The location of the restaurant provides a view of the Vigie marina and the city.

The atmosphere is fresh and cool. The backdrop from the night lights of the city and the marina mixed with the ambience of the Coal Pot Restaurant is very romantic. It makes you dream the night away.

Free parking is available.

Patiently awaiting the arrival of the sea creatures

Dinner is served

The three course menu is written on a chalk board and placed near your table for easy view.

Menu
Shaken fruit punch
Drink of choice all the time

We were served crispy and buttery bread. My significant other enjoyed the bread so much that he asked for extra.

Starter

Pumpkin soup

The pumpkin soup was thick, creamy and well prepared.

Calamari creole

The shrimp cocktail was not available so I chose the calamari creole.

The calamari creole was a mixture of sea food so I enjoyed some parts but it needed extra flavouring and had too much sauce for me.

I did not enjoy the calamari creole as much as I would have liked but you could try it, you might just love it especially if you’re a sea food lover.

Main course

Ribeye steak

Ribeye steak

The meat was served with vegetables, mashed potato pie, potatoes and ripe plantain. The ribeye steak was juicy, tender, well done and flavorful.

Lamb chop

The lamb chop was soft and richly flavored to the bone. I really enjoyed it and was able to clear my plate!

Dessert

I was filled by dessert time so I had to squeeze in the ice cream and cake.

Chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream

The chocolate cake was warm and seemed like it had just been baked. It was moist and appetizing.

Guava cheesecake and vanilla ice cream

I loved the guava cheesecake so much that I allowed it to melt in my mouth. Perfection!

Visit to celebrate

Coal Pot Restaurant is spacious enough for a business lunch, birthday celebrations or for any special event. You could decide to dine in for a quiet, relaxing and romantic or causal lunch or dinner.

Alize Inn Hotel A day pass

Day pass

Alize Inn Hotel is located in Mongiraud Gros Islet which is in the northern part of the island. Alize Inn Hotel is about five minutes from the Gros Islet town and about 15 minutes from the city Castries. If you are coming from Vieux Fort then the hotel is about 90 minutes away.

My co-workers decided to visit Alize Inn Hotel for a day pass to enjoy our off day. The day pass was from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for EC $135 per person. This was my first time visiting Alize Inn Hotel so I was eager to see the place.

Bus ride

My co-workers and I took a Gros Islet bus from Castries to Mongiraud to get to the Alize Inn Hotel. We got off at the nearest bus stop and began walking to the hotel.

We did not know exactly where the hotel was but we had a slight idea. There is a sign with an arrow along the way to help provide directions so you will not get lost.

We were amazed at the steep hill in front us. I thought “wow!” Climbing the steep hill was very tasking. It was about a two minute walk from the bus stop to the hotel.

Note that getting to the hotel by foot would not be ideal for persons with mobility issues.

Checked in

There is a flight of stairs leading to the reception area. More stairs we exclaimed! There is no elevator so this could pose a further problem for persons with mobility issues.

We went through reception and got a tour of the place. Due to the amount of persons in the group for the day pass we were given two rooms.

Rooms are provided for a day pass depending on room availability at the time.

Double bedded room
Single bedded room with private balcony

Room

The clean air conditioned room was well organized. There was a television, closet, safe, iron, ironing board and refrigerator.

The bathroom contained a tub, shower, toilet, face basin and a hair dryer.

There was also a private balcony to enjoy the magnificent view.

View from the balcony

Serve yourself

If you want to prepare a specialty then you could be your own chef and use the kitchenette. The common kitchen area is equipped with a microwave, stove top, sink and toaster over.

Exceptional

Maintenance was being done on the outside so the hotel was a bit noisy at first but it was exceptionally peaceful thereafter especially since the hotel was not crowded.

The hotel is small so there is not much to do other than eat, relax and enjoy the pool. That is exactly what we were seeking on that day.

You could also surf the internet and enjoy the free Wi-Fi available.

The grounds were well kept and the building looked newly painted.

Food time!

Menu

Delicious treats

The day pass included breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, unlimited juice and soft drinks. Four alcoholic cocktail drinks per adult was also included in the package.

Four cards were given to each person to get their drink of choice.

Fruit bowl

Breakfast

Breakfast commenced with a fruit bowl which included five fingers, cantaloupe, pineapple, honey dew and grapes.

We were then served pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, cheese, ham and toasted sliced bread. The eggs were well made, the bacon was crispy, sausage juicy and pancakes moist.

Everything tasted yummy yum yum! We were super filled and satisfied with the way breakfast was prepared.

Toasted garlic bread
Accra

Lunch

We were given two options to indulge in before lunch, garlic bread or accra. I chose the garlic bread and oh boy was it delicious.

Lunch itself was so enjoyable. We were served seasoned rice, macaroni and cheese, potato pie, plantain sticks and salad with the meat of choice. I chose the jerk pork and it was mouth-watering!

Dessert

Snacks

Red velvet cake and ice cream were the snacks of the evening!

Our drinks

Secrets in a glass!
Amaretto sour

Amaretto sour

The amaretto sour was sweet at first but as it settled and the mixture blended in it tasted sweet and sour. It was a job well done and it tasted well.

Piña colada

Piña colada

This sweet cocktail made me fall in love with the tropics all over again as I remembered the days when I sipped it whilst at the beach. The piña colada brought back fond memories.

Tequila

Tequila shot

We placed the salt on the back of our hand, drank the tequila then bit into the lime and sucked it. I said “ahhhhhhh” after the shot. The tequila shot made my mouth hot hot hot!

Fireball

Fireball

The fireball really did taste like a fireball, it was a candy in a glass! It reminded me of my childhood days when I sucked on the fireball candy.

Highlights

If you do not get a room and want to freshen up, it is okay! You could use the shower near the poor and use the washroom near the pool to change.

Alize Inn Hotel is located close to the S&S Plaza for your shopping needs and close to most of the “hot spots” in the northern part of the island.

You could visit Rodney Bay and go to the JQ Shopping Mall or Baywalk Shopping Mall to shop or simply window shop. Need a sea bath? Even better you could visit the Reduit beach.

The hotel is quiet and spacious enough to host meetings, special events, birthday parties and even wedding celebrations.

Feel free to call or email for bookings. Google Alize Inn Hotel for more information or visit their Facebook page.

Outdoor shower

Outdoor pool

Want to go for a swim? After you rinse yourself, you could go to the pool to enjoy the water. The pool is only four feet deep so no need to panic if you are unable to swim or float.

The pool side is filled with umbrellas, lounge chairs and coconut trees. You could relax, read a book, soak in the sun for a tan or enjoy nature and its surroundings.

I need a repeat!

Alize Inn Hotel is a family friendly beautiful establishment with a view overlooking the buildings nearby and some green nature isle.

The waiters were friendly and delivered our every request. Routine check-ups were done to ensure that we were okay

We did have many request from wanting more bread, wanting lots more juice and even water.

It was a good place to relax at the pool and enjoy a few non-alcoholic drinks for the day. Although I live in paradise, I felt like I was in paradise.

Perfect weather, perfect company and it felt like I had been in another country.

This was a good experience with good service, good food and drinks and an overall great atmosphere. I will visit again!

Au Poye Park

How it all started!

My friend Ellery decided that we should have a Soufriere lime to celebrate our birthdays since I was born on October 12th and both she and our other friend Christiana shared October 16th

She said that she would make all the arrangements and that it was a place I could blog about. As with most outings, I was excited to try something new and spend some time with my friends.

She said that we would be visiting Au Poye Park, I had never heard of Au Poye Park nor did I research the place but I trusted her decision.

Girls trip on the West coast

I met with two of my friends- Janel and Christiana in the city and we were ready to head down to Soufriere to celebrate our birthdays.

The drive down for a Friday afternoon was rather quiet. I could have counted the amount of vehicles we passed along the way as we existed Anse La Raye.

It was a cool and cloudy day, what I call “perfect weather!” Then again living in the tropics is filled with “perfect weather” even when it rains most of the day.

The west coast is filled with many scenic views, green vegetation, steep hills, deep valleys and lush peaks reaching for the sky.

There are so many things to see that you do not know what exactly to focus on because the tropical view is breathtaking. All sites that you see are picture perfect.

Saint Lucia is simply beautiful, I love nature so much and I love living in paradise! I enjoy being a tourist in my own country.

Plas Kassav

Plas Kassav when translated in English means Cassava Place. It is customary that I stop at Plas Kassav when I am on the west coast because not stopping for cassava bread is simply unacceptable!

Although I have not sampled all the flavours, I love, love, love, love the cherry raisin cassava bread. It is extremely tasty, soft, chewy, cherry and raisin filled and easy on the palate. This mouth-watering treat is that good and leaves me wanting more!

There are a variety of flavours ranging from chocolate, saltfish, banana, apple raisin, coconut and cinnamon.

The staff were extremely friendly and even offered to pose for a picture.

Hard at work mixing the cassava bread dough

Viewpoints of the Twin Pitons along the way!

The peak of the Piton can be seen from miles away
Saint Lucia’s iconic Twin Pitons
Claiming my freedom, inhaling more positivity and embracing nature

Soufriere town

As we approached the Soufriere market, the town came alive. We could hear the loud conversations near the market from the vendors, the drivers on the bus stand and from passers-by. We stopped at Ellery’s home for a quick break and then headed to Au Poye Park.

We drove and drove and drove. We drove and drove some more. I felt like we were lost even though I did not know the place. We sort directions from people we saw along the way and continued with the journey.

The view along the way is splendid. It first appeared like we were headed towards the sea then it seemed like Gros Piton was caving in on us as we got closer. The views made the long drive worth it. If you like sweet potato, there is a lot of it to see along the way.

As we got closer to the small community, the place looked familiar. Of course I had been here! My family and I had been there for my mom’s last round-de-island trip almost a year before she passed away.

For more information on Soufriere

Visit

Fond Gens Libre

Fond Gens Libre is a small community located at the bottom of Gros Piton. As we passed through the quiet community, I saw many different fruit trees filled with fruits along the way.

During my last trip here, the community members were playing cricket, playing music, barbequing and having fun. One of the grown men even gave my family and me a tour of the community and shared some of the place’s history.

Getting to Au Poye Park

Are you up for the adventure?A lady from the community sensed that we were lost and gave us directions to Au Poye Park. Put on your hiking boots and let’s go on the adventure together!

Follow the rocks that lead to the forest and keep along the trail to uncover biodiversity and the reward that awaits.

Although we had gotten directions, we remained in denial and maintained that this had not been the right place because of the rocky pathway. The helpful lady insisted that we followed the trail.

As I stared at the rocks, I wondered how I would climb but I was filled with joy to go on the adventure.

A powerful and loud sound of what seemed like a waterfall was heard but could not be seen. This raised my level of curiosity because I really wanted to see the waterfall.

We had a good laugh as we watched each other try to relive the “girl days” to climb the rocks.

The view along the trail was evergreen, the place was quiet and the pathway was rocky. At last, we saw a glimpse of the waterfall.

It must have been a 5 minute walk before we saw a sign saying “Welcome to Au Poye Park.” I grew a bit breathless during the journey but was happy for the exercise.

Trying to decide my next move to get to the top
A distant glimpse of the waterfall
We are almost there
What insect is this?
We made it!

Au Poye Park

Wow, what a beautiful garden this is I said. You could hear the waterfall, the sound of birds chirping and see the top of Gros Piton from every angle! This was really a unique way to have lunch and experience nature.

We were greeted by the staff and saw that the place had been designed for a birthday celebration. How thoughtful! We took a few pictures and went on to seat at the table.

How thoughtful…
The birthday girls- October babies
We are ready!

Starter

We had some wine and enjoyed each other’s company. I could not believe that we were still hearing the waterfall “sing” whilst at the table, it was splendid.

Lunch started off with accra commonly called fish fritters served with a spicy sauce, it made my insides tingle and I loved that feeling.

Sparkle in my glass
Lovely presentation with the accra

Main course

The main meal was then served, I ordered barbeque ribs. The ribs were well prepared, well-seasoned and the sauce gave it extra flavour.

The meal included rice, breadfruit fingers, flavoured ripe plantain, fresh garden salad, beans, macaroni and and cheese and green fig salad.

The food was extremely delicious and I was able to clear my plate despite being ridiculously filled.

Local juice was also available but I opted to drink my water.

Ribs, oh yeaa…

Dessert

Homemade local ice cream

The local homemade ice cream is made from seasonal fruits. Many creamy flavours to choose from including breadfruit, lime, mango, banana, soursop and peanut. They also featured a piton beer flavour.

I enjoyed all the ice cream flavours but loved the peanut and mango the most.

Thank you Jerma for serving us and ensuring that we were okay!

History of Au Poye Park

Au Poye Park got its name because of the poye trees that took over the place. The creole word poye translates to white cedar in English.

Au Poye Park is a landmark and historical place. It was originally inhabited by Marie Charles also known as Ma Sheil and her husband until hurricane Allen in 1980.

The hurricane forced them to move to the nearby community of Fond Gens Libre and the husband sadly died the following day after sustaining injuries during the hurricane.

First sign of civilization on the way back from climbing Gros Piton

Wosh nene

Wosh nene translated into English mean God mother of all rocks. It is one of the largest rocks along the Gros Piton trail.

Wosh nene is an ideal rock for rock climbers I would suppose because I was tempted to try the climb.

Snuggly fitted beneath the rock is a cave. Visiting Wosh nene was one of the highlights of my trip because this was the first time that I saw a rock this size in Saint Lucia.

Lots to do at Au Poye Park

Tour the park and learn about the history. The owner Charmaine Charles does a fantastic job with teaching the history

Have lunch and try the homemade tropical ice cream

Purchase some souvenirs

Visit wosh nene

Stop for refreshments before or after you climb Gros Piton

Or, you could relax

Special note

Washrooms and showers are available.

Rooms are unavailable to overnight but arrangements can be made for persons interested in camping for the night.

Au Poye Park is open for wedding celebrations, birthday celebrations, special events and meetings.

Set a date and call to make reservations for a unique and memorable experience.

I had a spectacular time at Au Poye Park and I hope to visit again. The atmosphere was cool and peaceful. The walk was worth the food and experience. Au Poye Park serves as a sweet escape for nature lovers.

Bonne Cuisine

High class a la cart dining at an affordable rate

Amazing!

Gently located upstairs from Val’s Place is a secret high class restaurant serving a variety of meals for everyone. Now that the secret is out! Bonne Cuisine is located in Richfond Dennery opposite the Richfond Gas Station and is open from Mondays to Saturdays 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. YES there is a dress code. Dress elegantly and enjoy a romantic dinner. Both walk ins and reservations are accepted.

It’s a date

Wait next to the “Please Wait Here” sign and wait for the waitress as she introduces herself, smiles and welcomes you to the restaurant. Then get escorted to your seat and be mesmerized by the ambience and modern furnishings.

It was the day post Valentine’s day at about 8 p.m. so Bonne Cuisine was fully decorated with lights and romantic decors.

My eyes dazzled as I marveled at the drink and dinner menu served respectively. They made me feel like I was at a hotel and really had me wanting to sample everything.

First-class restaurant

The light coloured interior added to the uniqueness and elegancy of the restaurant. The walls were not naked but covered with paintings that enhanced the feel.

The dim light candled table setting boosted the elegancy, added to the intimate experience and made me feel well relaxed.

The restaurant was neat with good seat setting. The atmosphere was cozy, appealing and relaxing.

The dinner sitting at Bonne Cuisine is ideal for private intimate dinners. The tables are spaced out so gives extra privacy.

The seats were comfortable and I loved the marble tables.

Although the music was low, I heard the hip classical jazz and even said “wow been a while since I heard that song.”

I listened to hear for the sounds from the ongoing traffic since the restaurant is located next to a highway and I could barely hear the sound of the moving vehicles.

The room temperature was right and I did not once say I was cold since I typically feel cold.

Note no smoking is allowed whether dining indoors or in the veranda.

You are served

Get served garlic bread compliments of Bonne Cuisine. The taste of the herbs and melted butter on the garlic bread spoke volumes of the overall taste.

The garlic taste was not overpowering but just right. The bread also just the right texture, toasted perfectly. Getting served garlic bread compliments of the restaurant felt like it was a “thank you for coming” token and solidified that it would be high class dining at a fancy restaurant.

The friendly, uniformed neatly dressed waitress made the dining experience interesting as she knew the menu really well.

Fruit Punch

The blended fruit punch was filled with flavor from various fruit juice. It tasted like a juice infusion and was just as sweet and refreshing as I like it.

Dinner menu

Dinner it is

This is really a la cart dining at its’ best. As with a three course meal, you first start off with an appetizer to snack on, soup or salad, go to the mains then do dessert.

The mains are served with complimentary rice or side but the side is for an added fee.

The dinner menu is eye boggling and has something for everyone and is friendly to all eaters.

Let’s begin!

Caesar salad

I started the three course meal with the Caesar salad served with romaine lettuce, croutons and parmesan cheese. As I dug in, I smiled.

The lettuce was fresh, the croutons dry and crunchy and the cheese added extra flavour to the salad.

The sauce was rich, creamy, smelt good and tasted just as good.

The sauce when combined to the dish was exquisite and added a burst of flavors. It made the meal the cherry on top for me.

Pumpkin soup

The pumpkin soup was thick, creamy and was full of flavour. It did taste of pumpkin, was nourishing, satisfying, tasty and it did smell nice.

Honey BBQ ribs

This is what I had been longing for all along! The ribs were marinated in honey barbeque sauce and had a sweet aroma. Lots of flavour and the ribs were cooked to perfection.

The ribs were meaty, juicy, tender and the taste literally kicked my palate with excitement from the flavours. The honey BBQ ribs were addictive and indeed finger licking good. Very well-seasoned!

The salad was crunchy and rice also well-seasoned. I was super full after eating the ribs so had to take some time to relax and let my tummy settle. Would I even be able to squeeze in dessert?! I wondered…

Digging in

Caribbean succulent steak

I enjoyed the well done steak. The peppercorn sauce added an extra spicy taste to the steak. The big grilled steak was tender, succulent, lean, flavorsome and was easy to chew. Great smell and very well done! Need I describe some more?

Dessert

Chocolate cake

By dessert time I was overly satisfied with the meals and brilliant service. Chocolate cake is one of my partner’s favourite so he enjoyed every bite.

The chocolate cake had a rich chocolate flavour. The frosting was not too sweet and the cake was not too moist but the sweetness, taste and moisture remained consistent throughout.

I was very thrilled with the chocolate cake. I love ice cream so yes I would obviously love the vanilla ice cream served. There are different ice cream flavors so ask your server for the available ice cream choices.

Cheesecake

My choice from the different cheesecake toppings was strawberry. The cheesecake was perfectly done- I love that the crust was thin.

The cheesecake filling was smooth on the palate, rich and creamy. The cheesecake tasted heavenly and finalized the savour of all my meals.

Our waitress Geanelle

Our waitress knew and explained the menu really well and gave further details on the wines and drinks. She came back at a reasonable time to clear the table so we did not feel like dinner had to be rushed nor like we had to force to eat quickly.

Geanelle checked on us intermittently to ensure that everything was going well. She gave warm smiles, was friendly, courteous and engaging.

She was also neatly dressed in a uniform.

Special events

Special events such as birthday celebrations, anniversaries and other engagements can be hosted at Bonne Cuisine for a maximum of 25 persons.

Ensure that you mark your calendar and book your dinner next year for Valentine’s day and Mother’s day to take advantage of the special offers and giveaways.

I was able to witness a couple celebrate a birthday. The area was well decorated and the birthday girl became really excited when a happy birthday song was played and the waitress came out with a dessert stacked with firework candles.

Outdoor dining

Have your dining experience in the veranda whilst enjoying the scenery and view of the community. Shutters are available for rainy days so no need to worry about the weather.

Cheers!

Cheers to the owner of Bonne Cuisine for granting me the opportunity to have such a wonderful experience. I enjoyed every moment Tracey!

Special note

Oh my, all meals at Bonne Cuisine were well flavoured and exquisitely presented. I could not believe that this type of dining and such wonderful food is available in the outskirts of the island and it is so affordable.

The ingredients used in the meals at Bonne Cuisine were of high quality given the superb taste. The seasonings used added extra taste to the meals.

I enjoyed the well balanced meals as I indulged in the three course menu. They reminded me of the simple pleasures that make life better and memorable.

Meals are served in a timely manner and high level quality service is provided.

Dining

No longer do you need to only dine in the city or its’ surroundings. Feeling to dine in the outskirts of the island then choose Val’s Place for a causal lime.

This was my first time visiting Val’s Place and I was in awe. Music was heard immediately upon entering the establishment and my eyes caught the various cage machines.

I headed to the bar and took a look at the food menu which displayed an assortment of mouth-watering options.

I was very impressed with the atmosphere! Val’s Place is well-organized so that people playing on the cage machines do not affect those who are just there for their meal or to have some drinks.

What’s the waiting time…

Val’s Place offers both in and outdoor dining. Sit on a comfy stool, enjoy the air condition and dine indoor or dine on the table outside to enjoy the fresh air.

Either way you will enjoy the experience and the fast service.

Val’s Place is what I call a pub where you can get a warm, freshly made meal, mingle with friends, watch football or play on the cage machines.

Time of day

This restaurant review was done upon invitation from Val’s Place so my partner and I chose to visit on a Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. The atmosphere was mostly quiet with the music being heard in the background. Some individuals were dining in and others were using the cage machines. How excited they were to win the games.

By 7 p.m. it was a completely different atmosphere and the place had transformed. Val’s Place was now packed with individuals watching football, having causal conversations, playing on the cage machines and enjoying their meal.

Behind the scenes!

Meet Val! Yes you guessed right, he is the owner of Val’s Place!

Make a quick decision

Bring your friends and do not worry about cost because the menu is affordable plus there are specials on drinks. The busy days are Tuesdays and the weekends so choose a day convenient to you.

If you want a romantic setting then dine earlier during the day to take advantage of the quiet environment. Want to engage in a night-time club kind of vibe then visit during the night since it becomes way louder and crowded than day time.

If you are hungry then no need to worry because the wait time to get served is acceptable. The staff are friendly, give advice on the menu and can even help you decide on the best days to visit.

I loved

I loved the dim lights since it added to the thrill and made the experience feel like an ideal causal yet romantic date lime. The food was exceptional, the service was fast with a wait time of about 15 minutes and the atmosphere helped me unwind.

What a wonderful feeling!

My family and friends will tell you that I am a food lover and big eater so I am able to fully judge a meal. Trust me when I say that the meals at Val’s Place will have you wanting more.

Recommendation

I do recommend Val’s Place. Great atmosphere, great food, great service, polite staff and great location. The restaurant is wheelchair friendly so accommodates everyone. Please be advised that no smoking is allowed indoors and no loitering is allowed at the restaurant.

I will definitely be visiting soon and so should you! Tell me about your experience, how was the food and service?
