K.Duff Fashion

Gone are the days when rocking a braided hairstyle was taboo.

Braids are no longer a thing of the past.

Diversity and acceptance of traditional hairstyles have changed the outlook on braids and hair on the whole.

In fact, braids are now a fashion statement. Braiding can be done with both natural and artificial hair.

Braiding is a great option and serves as an alternative to wearing one’s natural hair.

Braiding helps uplift the look of an outfit, makes the face look fresh and different and offers diversity.

Now, braids are complex with complicated and unique designs all done within minutes to hours.

The hair industry has evolved with various types, colors, texture and lengths of braids, weaves and wigs.

Founder of K.Duff Fashion

K.Duff Fashion…unveiling your beauty

Ketrah Duff has been braiding for over 24 years.

She established and registered her business- K.Duff Fashion in 2008.

Ketrah started braiding her own hair to ease the pressure off her sensitive scalp.

She managed to grasp braiding and grew in love with unveiling the beauty of not only herself but for others.

She specializes in the application of all types of braids and anything pertaining to hair.

K.Duff Fashion also manufactures its own Afro straw twist braids.

Let your passion follow you

It takes conversing with Ketrah for a second to recognize her strong faith in God.

She is a God-loving woman. She believes one of her God given gifts were her hands.

She always believed the scripture- Proverbs 18:16 as she believed her gift would make room for her and it did.

Artwork in hair styling

Ketrah’s desire was and continues to be unveiling one’s beauty with any desired style.

She loves showing a sense of style as she places a unique touch to all her client’s hair updos.

K.Duff Fashion loves the finishing and client satisfaction that accompanies the invention and creativity of each hair style.

Driven

Ketrah appreciates the flexibility with being an entrepreneur because she can choose her off days and opening and closing hours.

However, the downside to owning a business is, no work, no pay.

Encouragement

Ketrah’s advice to all is to ensure passion in whatever you do. If it is your gift or passion, pursue it.

Though it can be a long and tedious task, the outcome of it and the love for it will outweigh the duration process.

She explained that there are people with different personalities, satisfied customers with positive feedback and those who will criticize regardless of all the efforts made.

She believes that the criticisms should be used to build oneself to become better.

She encourages all to be optimistic, persistent and continue putting all their efforts to unveil their beauty and the beauty of others.

Founder

Verlette Hamilton was born and raised in Richfond.

After spending five years working in the cruise industry, she returned to her homeland- Saint Lucia.

She began working as a chef for an establishment but was forced to open her own business faster after facing bad experiences whilst on the job.

She always thought she could have her own business; hence, she started Eats and Treats.

She loves to infuse ingredients that are not normally available to make food taste better.

Aiming high

Deciding to become a sole proprietor can be exciting yet terrifying.

Great risks are involved with opening a business but that did not deter Verlette.

Verlette loves being her own boss and thinks that there is a boss in everyone and that everyone got their own style.

Words from the wise

Verlette explained that “it is a great thing to learn to build yourself but you must be focused and disciplined.”

I love the oreo choc ice!
